LEO&F

The Optical Spectroscopy and Photonics Laboratory was created in 2017 by Prof. Dr. Marcelo Gonçalves Vivas at the Institute of Science and Technology of the Federal University of Alfenas, Poços de Caldas Campus. The focus of LEO&F's research is the field known as material photonics, which uses optical techniques to study nanomaterials and manufacture photonic devices.
RESEARCH
Research conducted at LEO&F involves the use of light to investigate the optical properties of organic and inorganic materials, such as organic molecules, polymers, semiconductors (bulk and nanocrystals), and metal nanoparticles, among others. The group focuses on both basic and applied research. For example, fundamental optical effects, such as the correlation between the structure and optical properties of materials and the design of optical devices, are some of the laboratory's research topics.
